Chinese philosophy and religions are all deeply concerned with how everything comes from an ongoing event of becomings. In Taoism, we are all a quantum of unique experience. And Qi is the animating energy of transformation and is also being animated. There are no autonomous things to be animated, there is only the vital energizing flow constantly mutating, becoming and transforming into one another. We shape and at the same time are being shaped by others and the environs. Every "becoming" is a processual collaboration of self- and co-creativity.
In combining the oriental animistic belief that everything is alive and all living things change and mutate, the work creates a world in which everything is made with the vital transformative energy. I call them all enviro-creatures. One may break into many, and many may accumulate into one. The more complex ones are made by the accumulation of innumerable smaller ones. Every creature is slipping from one to another in a constant "becoming" dynamic. Without having given forms, the work creates semi-abstract, non-fixed enviro-creatures and their emerging “narratives”.
