Open Studios
Visitor Exhibition and Benefit
The MSU Master of Fine Art Open Studio Tour showcases the work in progress of the MFA candidates at Montclair State University. The tour will give viewers intimate access to a diverse blend of talents working in varied mediums reflecting the interdisciplinary focus of the program.
Accompanying the event will be a small works benefit by the MFA students, faculty, and visitor artists who support the program. The proceeds will go to an Art Department Scholarship, which will support outstanding students in the program.
The MFA Gallery will also exhibit visitor artists such as Vito Acconci, Gary Peterson and Julie Evans.
Since its inauguration the program has invited an exceptional group of artists, curators, and visiting critics to work with the students. Among such names are Robert Whitman, Revd. Billy, Nick Cave, Roberta Smith, Jerry Saltz, Elizabeth Peyton, Eleanor Heartney, Arthur C. Danto, James Rosenquist, Phillip Pearlstein, William Wegman, and Dana Schutz.
